A research paper (6–8 pages), accompanied with illustrations, will examine a topic chosen by you and your professor, Dr. Dimitrova. Themes might include the discussion of a single work of art or architectural monument; an examination of a specific style or period or patron; a type of architectural space (mosque, palace, madrasa, garden); a particular medium (mosaic, painting, sculpture, illuminated manuscript, textile, pottery, glass); or, an exploration of a concept (e.g., pilgrimage, iconoclasm, calligraphy).
