Academic Social Networking Sites

Academic social networks allow researchers to create profiles, connect with others in their field, and upload articles to increase the exposure of their work. Popular sites include Academia.edu and ResearchGate

It's important to be cautious when using these sites. Before uploading work to them, you should check the copyright policy of the journal(s) in which you have published. In many cases, authors may not have permission to make their work publicly available through these sites.

Bibliometrics and Altmetrics

Bibliometrics and altmetrics are systmes for evaluating the impact of research, but they use different approaches. Bibliometrics focuses on traditional scholarly metrics like citations and h-index, while altmetrics track online activity and engagement with research outputs beyond citations. Altmetrics are often used to complement bibliometrics, providing a more immediate and broader view of research impact.
