French Language and Literature: Digital Collections

The digital library of the National Library of France offers access to millions of documents, including images, digitized manuscripts, and historical press publications.

The Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language (ARTFL) is a collaboration between the Laboratoire ATILF (Analyse et Traitement Informatique de la Langue Française) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the Division of the Humanities, and Electronic Text Services (ETS) of the University of Chicago. Free public databases through ARTFL include Rousseau Online, primary documents from the French Revolution period, and Diderot and d'Alembert's Encyclopedia.

A project of the U.S. Library of Congress with the support of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization), the WDL makes freely available primary materials from all countries and cultures. These are its offerings from France.

This collection from Digital USD contains many published and unpublished manuscripts from French feminist and journalist Jane Misme.

Available through Digital USD, the transcript of the three bound volumes of Marguerite Durand's original manuscripts, kept in the library she founded, was prepared by Michèle Magnin, professor of French at the USD.
